Out of interest

you would think that the non-custodial parent(s) would only have to pay child support if a paternity test is issued and proves they are the father/mother. is this true in all states??

I have a 3 yr old and a 4 year old I am putting in preschool for 3 hours/2-3 days per wk. they have never been in any preschool or childcare. They are away from me for sunday school or my cousin that is our babysitter . My 4 year old is very shy and my pediatrician highly recommends preschool a few hours per wk to help ease into being away from me. At one preschool I looked at they tested my 3 yr old and said she could go to the 4 yr old class, and they would be together. (there is one other 3 yr old in that class, too) In another preschool they will not be together. Would it be better to send them together to get used to being away from me and with other kids but have each other till they get used to the idea? (one step at a time) should they go ahead and get used to the idea of being apart since they will be next year?
the school didnt do a formal test. the teacher just talked to her, did puzzles with her while seeing what she knew and where she was at in learning. she didn't want her to be "lost" or behind the other kids. My daughter didnt even know she was "testing" her, she just thought they were playing.

A girl I know is pregnant and not positive on who the father is. Is prenatal paternity testing safe or should she wait until the baby is born?

there is a possibility that my husband fathered a child before we were together we have tried to have this cituation resolved numerous times but the mother has never followed through. my husband has never been apart of this childs life and she calls someone else daddy. we are nervous about the mother going after us for child support down the road. is there anyway we can terminate his parental. rights with out having a paternity test? oh and he is not on the birth certificate either...

Where did you take it and how detailed /accurate were the results/ how pricey was it? Did it tell you what you wanted to know?

and what is cost of this test ?

I just can't recall when this all started, does anyone know? Thanks.

Child is not born yet. Paternity is not being questioned but DNA would match if need be to have child tested. Father does not want to be a father and is going to terminate parental rights immediately after birth. Can the mother still get child support from the father in the state of OH? Father says he can sign a way all responsibility to this mother and child.

I know who my baby's dad is, but I was still legally married when I got pregnant , so the court assumes that my (legal)husband is the dad. I have been dating one person since me and my ex split up, and I haven't had sex with anyone else. (I just wanted to clear that up). I have two children from the marriage already, and my ex has not had to pay me child support. In order for child support to go into effect, my divorce has to be final. My court hearing has been set back several times for different reasons. So, I thought that if I could get a paternity test now, I could try to get my divorce final before the baby gets here so it won't have his last name, and so maybe the court will reconsider waiting until after the baby is born to take a paternity test. If anyone knows if this is possible, please let me know. Thanks!

Paternity Test. Have you or someone else?
Well, I think I found my dad, but I want to do a paternity test. I know in-home paternity are cheaper, but are they accurate? Or you think is better to do it at a clinic?

Wanting to find the lowest cost possible

i took a dna test and its hard to understand them. I thought that if the alleged father tested that all of the numbers would be 0. But on mine there was about 6 of them that matched the alleged father. And on the results it doesnt say what % that he is not the father. Should i redo the test somewhere else?

If a paternity test states that the tested man might be 86% his biological father, I got the online kit at gtldna.com. Oh and by the way it says that 14 out of 15 genetic markers match. is it still possible for the other unrelated man to be the dad?

live in Texas...
My husband may have fathered another child (prior to us getting together) but the women cheated and decided to be with the other guy she found out she was preg and gave the baby the other mans last name, he is on the birth cert etc..Once he decided he didnt want to be with her she told my husband that it was his baby and started "harrasing" him about it. She filed for child support against my husband and then didnt show up to the first meeting. We got a letter in the mail saying the case was closed because she never responded but she could re open at anytime. Sure enough 2 weeks later he got another letter for another meeting becasue she re-opened the case. She showed up to this one, they were scheduled for a DNA test she was to go right after the meeting and my husband is going today, but this morning we got a letter saying that another meeting is set up because she did not take the kid the get the test!!! I know in Texas if the man does not show up it is his child by default. Its like him saying okay this is my child...but what happens if the woman doesnt go and does not take the kid? please help!!!
Has anyone been through anything like this? I have never had to deal with child support so I have no idea what any of the process is....

i had a few of my friends over and we all tag teamed my girlfriend. now we found out which one of us is the father and he doesnt want her to have the kid, but she wants to keep it.

Okay so my boyfriend's parents are psychotic... him and I have a 5 1/2 month old daughter and are temporarily living with them until we get married in August )they don't know we're getting married... they also don't know we're pregnant again and I don't want them knowing) and they told him that he had to get a paternity test done on our daughter otherwise I can't live there anymore and they'll file for custody... like they're psychotic so he did it. So we have to go to court... but on the court papers it says that the court will set up proper parenting times like visitation... well how the hell does that work if we live together and are getting married? Should I get a lawyer? What are they going to ask us at court and tell us (he's trying to establish parentage). Thanks.

I had a affair behind my wife's back. My ex-mistress has filed for child support and medical support (1 year old son will be on my health insurance). Paternity test came back positive. Is there any way to keep the child support and medical support a secret from my wife? I'm not ready to tell her yet!

There are 2 different men who could be the father of my unborn son, but neither of which I want to put on the birth certificate or to allow around my child. Do I have to grant their wishes of a paternity test or do I have to verify paternity?

My boyfriend and I are expecting our first daughter anytime in the next couple weeks, and I want to make sure we are prepared for any legal issues that may come up due to us not being married. The birth certificate issue is ok, we spoke with the dr and hospital and we'll just have to sign a affidavit of paternity after birth and he can be on the birth certificate.

What Im worried about though is if something were to happen to me. Even though it is highly unlikely, I'd still like to be prepared for it. Would the hospital let him take our daughter home or would she be in foster care until a paternity tests result was back? That would just make a bad situation worse....Would a simple will granting guardianship of her to him take care of that?

My son is 8 months old and up until now i was pretty sure who his dad was until my mom pointed out how much she thinks he looks like my ex its complicated because i was last with my ex the beginning of march 2008 and got with the other guy the middle of march and had a period the end of march and it was said that i conceived around april 14th just by going by the 1st day of my last period, my due date was january 10th i had my son a month early, My 1st question is has ANYBODY had a period during your pregnancy, even one, or just in the beginning of the pregnancy, not implantation, a full blown period??? Because now im a nervous wreck thinking did i conceive before the period and had the period anyway?!!? i was with the guy my whole pregnancy and after but hes just an awful person and i dont want him in my sons life, my 2nd question is can i have a DNA test shipped to my home and whats the cost and are they accurate? i dont want no mean comments please this is very serious to me and ide just like a little advice and answers thank you so much!! does anybody think theres a big chance he could belong to the other guy even though i had a period? and also my son was born at 35 weeks and was 100% healthy he didnt need lights or oxygen tubes so everyone assumed my son was full term and belonged to the other guy, its all very confusing and i am going to get a DNA done i just want other opinions and answers on the period while pregnant. thanks.
can a DNA be covered under health insurance?
