I talked to my lawyer and he said that alot of people resort to that because it is faster than waiting for CCS. Has anyone ever come accross problems? No Maury comments please. It's only funny the first time you hear it. = )

I technically did use one. I think I swabbed my cheek, and then my daughter’s cheek to collect our cells. Then I gave it to my then-boyfriend. He told me that he swabbed his cheek and then sent the samples in for testing. But a few weeks later, he admitted to me that he’d never mailed the samples after all. (He knew that the kid was his!)
So even though I have some experience with these home kits, I didn’t finish the whole process, so to speak. I have heard that these kits aren’t always admissible in court. So they’re more for personal peace of mind, instead of pursuing child support through a court. As for myself, I was NOT going to use the kit for legal reasons such as child support…I was trying to prove to my boyfriend’s mother that the baby was his, and figured that this was an inexpensive way to do so. She had a hard time accepting it at first, I think.
I can tell you that the home DNA kits are fairly easy to use. I had no problems at all. If you have a personal reason instead of a legal reason, I say go ahead and give it a try.

Yes, I have b/c my husband did not believe that our daughter was his. It came back that of course he was. I shortly thereafter divorced him for being such an a-hole. It only took about 7-10 days to get the results if I remember correctly. What is CCS, btw? I don’t know if the at-home tests would hold up in court.
I did and we used genetix or something. we ordered the kit off the internet and they sent us 4 swabs, following all the directions. Then you put them in the envelope provided and mail it back to them. it took 4 weeks and they sent us the news plus a little information of how and why.
Worked well but sometimes they companies will tell you that the reults they find are not allowed to be used in court or for any court purposes involving you and your child or any disputes.
I’ve done the court ordered test. I went to Labcorp and it cost $630 but it can be used in court.
To be used in court, the lab must have the proper accreditations and there must be a ‘chain of custody’. The take home tests cannot be used in court.
