How Can I Go About Suing For Overdue Child Support?
My birth certificate states that I have no father (it has a bunch of Xs). Through Accurint.com, I've found his social security number and address and home telephone number. He resides in Edgewater, Volusia County, FL. I reside in Buffalo, Erie County, NY. and I am a 21-year-old male university student. My mother and I have not received any child support from him at all. He left when I was born and my mother did not know his social security number, just his previous address and that he moved to the state of Florida. I believe that he will have to submit to a paternity test in order to prove that he is indeed my father. How can I go about ordering this via court? What is the next step that I need to take now that I have all this information on him? Thank you!

Firstly, it is up to your mother to sue for child support. If she never formally requested it previously, she may only be able to ask for arrearage back to the date of filing, depending on state statutes.
She will need to file a request for custody and support with the "family court" in the county in which she resides which will notify him of the action against him. He will be requested to provide DNA or other evidence which may, or may not, prove him to be your biological father.
I cannot understand why after 21 years you have decided to seek money from this man. Why wasn’t this done 20 years ago?

Go to the Firends of Court in your state and petition the court to enforce your court order.

First, you cannot go after any child support…nor were you ever entitled to it. Child support is for your Mom to support you so she must go after it. Secondly, there is the paternity issue since not listed on birth certificate. Next, I don’t believe he is liable for anything as she never went for court ordered child support for you in the past. And 21 is quite a wee-bit late.
If your mother never filed for child support in the past,it is too late now.You are an adult and should be supporting yourself.Your mother should have taken care of this situation years ago.
If you’re hoping for a nice chunk of change outta this, it’s not gonna work. Yes he owes you. Big. But even if they order him to pay 18 years worth he won’t have that much. If they order him to make payments all you’ll have is some payments that won’t amount to much. All that is IF the case ever gets through the courts before your 80th birthday.
thats NOT true; i’ve heard of children (now adults) going after their deadbeat parents… so it is possible.
i say you make a LANDMARK case in your state, so the rest of the kids out here can hold their deadbeat accountable as well.
you will need to file a motion requesting his DNA testing be done to establish that he is indeed your father.
then you file a motion requesting some sort of relief. i dont know if you’ll get it, but its worth a try…. if he knew your mother was preggers… he needs a foot shoved up an orifice, in my opinion.

it doesn’t matter how old u are, go and get what is owed to u. i am 37 years old and my father never paid a penny for my sister and i. my mom worked very hard for us to survive. she is now getting back all those years he did not pay. as a matter of fact if u can find hin and take him to family court they will even garnish his taxes for all back support. my mom recieves a monthly check and every year at tax time she gets his taxes also. she struggled all those years for us kids. dam it she deserves every penny she can get. go for it kid you deserve it and so does your mom good luck.
