At 14 you are a minor, needing parental consent to be tested.
I would recommend http://www.familytreedna.com, which also does the DNA testing for the National Geographics Genotype Program.
DNA testing will not give names, dates, or places, just a vague "your ancestors came from here" type of thing. However, it appears to be relatively accurate; my DNA tests back up my papertrail.
First there is no test of genealogy short of DNA testing. But that wont give you the answers you want. It takes time to get it figured out. My sister has been working on ours for several years.You need to ask your parents and gran parent question. Ask aunts uncles ect.Ask them what they know or might of heard to get you going in the right direction.But those answers may not be right.You can use the internet to find a lot of your answers.U.S census can be found online. Ship passage records and town histories can be found online.But watch the direction you go. You may think it’s looks right but then you’ll find the names don’t match up at some point. My father always said we were Scottish, German and Dutch.He had the Dutch and German part right but not the Scottish. His family did come from Scotland but they were Viking first.Infact several of my families trace back to Vikings.Your parents or grand parents may not want to give you all they know. Ghost in the closet! It’s a lot of work but worth it. My sister finds most of the names and because I like history I try to find these people in history(Town charters,town histories ect. It can become a great school project. So use the NET. There are places that will tell you how to get started. Look up sites using the word genealogy. It’s neet to find out who you are and why you my be the way you are. Good luck
Actually it’s quite easy since your a male you can find your paternal lineage by taking a DNA test , and if you want your Maternal lineage ask your mom or sister or a half sister thats born from your mother. You can ask your aunts from your mom’s side as well to get a maternal test. I
