If a woman were to get a paternity test while pregnant, would the father have to give blood or is there any other way to give his DNA? How dangerous is getting an CVS if between the ages of 18-25?

It’s doctor’s choice on cheek swab or blood sample. They can also use hair or other bodily fluids such as semen in extreme circumstances. Cheek swabs are the preferred method though. ANY procedure done on a fetus is dangerous. You’ll need a doctors consent to do CVS just for paternity and most will refuse unless there is a very serious reason for it. Besides, CVS paternity testing is done at 10-13 weeks. You’re well past that time frame. If you’re having an amniocentesis done, it can be done at that time. If it’s not absolutely necessary, I’d recommend skipping it and waiting until birth. It can be done 100% safely then. You’re almost or already are past the time frame for amniocentesis paternity testing anyway. It’s not done after 20 weeks.
Here is information on paternity testing both pre- and post-natal. http://www.americanpregnancy.org/prenataltesting/paternitytesting.html
i dont think there is a way to do a patertiny test on an unborn child.
i am pretty sure you have to wait until the baby is born, then no they swab the mouths of both of the people your testing.
they can do blood tests though. but again i think you have to wait until your child is born
but i am not sure. sorry
They don’t do paternity tests during pregnancy, they do it after the baby is born. And you can get DNA tests with only a swab of the inside of the cheek, doesn’t have to be blood.
CVS isn’t something done for the sake of a paternity test, and no good doctor who practices ethically will do it for that reason. Knowing paternity before the baby is born is not a life-or-death situation 99.999% of the time.
