because the amnio has the DNA in it, cant he do a paternity test as well?
how can i go about asking him this? ho wmuch extra do you think it would cost if my insurance covers the amnio?

Definitely. There is a site below which includes all the ways paternity can be tested, and amniocentesis is among one of the ways to test pre-birth. You have to have your doctor’s consent for it to be used to decide paternity. It’s expensive, the price ranging from $400 to $2000. I doubt your insurance would cover the paternity test, but it will likely cover the other tests run after the amniocentesis. (remember, you’ll need the possible daddy’s DNA also!)
I guess you bring it up by asking if your amniocentesis can be used to establish paternity – and go from there. Most paternity tests that are done after the birth are cheaper than the pre-birth tests. So, if you can wait, it may be better for that reason.
