definitely contact a lawyer as the other two suggested. you'll need to do an affidavit explaining that the mother of the child told you shortly after birth that you were NOT the father. unfortunately you won't be able to get any of the money that you've already paid towards the child support back, but you can prevent yourself from having to make any further payments.

it's really too bad that you waited so long to sort this mess out...could have saved yourself THOUSANDS of dollars...good luck to you

Contact a lawyer, and they'll just have the boy get a DNA test, and as soon as you show up not the father, you won't have to pay any support I don't believe. Talk to a lawyer, and they'll be able to get it done for you.

To my knowledge, as soon as you signed those papers, even if the mother admitted you were not the father, you still have to pay regardless.I know that is the law in Delaware. Since you have waited so long to want a DNA test they will probably not even take the case. Basically as soon as you signed those papers you were taking responsibilites to pay for 18 years.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I am sure this is the rule for every state. But, just in case TX seems to be different for some odd reason, contact a lawyer.
