Summons for paternity and child support?
I was just got a summons for a paternity test / child support from a woman I have never heard of. Once I started to look over the papers, it turns out that its for someone other than me, but there's a line drawn threw it and next to it hand written is my name. But it has my birthday on it typed. Is someone playing a joke on me? Also it shows that it was from 2002. I called the phone numbers and told them my name and they said that they have no idea what I'm talking about. Do I ignore this or go to the date posted? It's alot to take in right now. I just need some advice. Do I goto the paternity summons or ignore this?

I’d call the county atty before I blew off the summons and get something in writing from them
You need some advice. But advice from strangers online is no substitute from the advice you get from your attorney.
Since you have received the summons, you must act on it or suffer the consequences.
Consult your attorney as soon as possible. If you do not have an attorney, use the lawyer referral service at your state’s bar association website.
I suggest that you go down to the child support division were you live and see what it is they have on file for you, by law they can’t issue a summons to you for a paternity test if they haven’t first served you with paper work notifying you that someone has opened up a child support case against you, that way it will give you 30days to respond to the petition opened against you, then they go from their… but they MUST serve you with that paper work to start off with. Another thing is that they can’t FORCE you to do a DNA test without your authorization so to me someone must be playing a joke on you, unless whomever filed the paperwork has no clue what their doing, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Also check with your local district court, sometimes people like to file paperwork their for child support and custody issues, but since you never signed any birth certificate their shouldn’t be a reason as to why they would go through all that, but like I say, it’s better to be safe than sorry… These steps should be your best solutions to your problem.. Hope that helped..
