I was adopted when I was 15 months old, I have always known my biological Mother. At the age of eight, my friends Father told me he was my Dad, But my mother has totally denied this. The man treated me very good. Some years ago he passed away still saying I was his child, I was put into his obituary along with my children as his grandchildren. The man I am married to now turned out to be this mans relative, if he was my Father we would be cousins. Would a DNA test between us children tell me the truth?
im in minnesota im a possible father and the ex is not cooperating at all and refuses to submit to genetic testing or dna test to prove paternity, im fairly confident i am the father and need help in best way to get a court ordered paternity test. she has since moved out of state, anyone have any suggestions on best route i should take. or fathers rights groups that may have specific information. thank you very much to all those who have any suggestions.
There is limited chance that I will find my bio-parents until the state I am from opens up the records (fingers crossed it will be soon!), but I am thinking of doing this DNA test for ancestry just for fun (I doubt it is all that reliable, but still would be interesting). If money wasn't an object, would you give it a try? And would you do your paternal or maternal line?

I live in NYC and I was just wondering what the process will be since he refuses to take a paternity test when the baby is born. Not because he thinks the baby is his but because his mom told him I can't take him for child support that way. Also, how early can I file for sole LEGAL custody (not just physical) and possibly child support?
Not really worried about child support... So baisicly getting sole legal custody of my son will be easier without a DNA test?
I'm wondering what's the most accurate and fast DNA test that can be done to prove the father is the father after the birth of the child? Please give me websites you have used or know of. Thanks
I just took a home paternity test and it says I am NOT the father. I do not trust this result and I will be taking a real dna test soon, but besides these home tests being unreliable can breastmilk affect the results of a dna test? Somebody here on yahoo with alot of experience says they did but I can't find anything anywhere else that says breastmilk affects dna results when using a swab. Anyone know?
My child's father is refusing to take a DNA test. Claims the child is not his and will not have anything to do with it. Now what do I do?
My mother thought the man who I've called dad for the last 23 years was indeed my father, but it turns out not. Her ex-finance from over 20 years ago refuses to believe that he is my father and will not answer my phone calls much less take a DNA test. I live in CA and he lives in FL.. any legal way to make him?
I am in this little situation where a friend of mine has a child, but a few years has gone by because her parents did not approve of the relationship (it was an interracial relationship). So after she got older and got a place of her own she say the father in the store and told him how old his son was (he already knew he had a son with her).
Now he is saying he is not the father after he saw their son and spent almost of month with him bonding. Now all of a sudden he says the child is not his. The only thing I could tell her was to take a DNA test, but he does not want to take one. I believe he knows deep down this is his child. So my question is when they attend court when the judge ask him if he believes the child is his and he says no, then when the judge also ask if he's willing to take a DNA test and he says no could the courts make him take the test considering she is on public assistance from the government? Does the court have the power to do that for the sake of the child parentage.
(I would greatly appreciate if some family attorneys were able to answer my question, but anyone who knows the answer feel free to answer)
Thank you in advance!!
My long lost sister and I recently reunited after 16 years of being separated. We share the same mother and my father's name is on her birth certificate. About 7-8 years ago, a DNA test was performed to determine if, in fact, she was my father's daughter. (Making her my 1st and only full blooded sibling) However, our parent's versions of the results of that test are very very different. I was wondering if there are records of this test and who may have access to them. Alternatively, maybe an AFFORDABLE sibling DNA test could tell the truth, however, I dont have hundreds to spend so I am not really sure what my options are when it comes to finding the truth. HELP!
Wondering what the laws are in WI regarding getting back child support once the new DNA test proved who his father is.
No, I'm not trying to recoup or 'get even' with his dad. I don't need his money. My son called me asking about it,, that's why I posted this. and yes, it most likely was blood tests back then not DNA. But i knew all along who his father was!
A dna test came back with results of 89%, is there a possibility that another family member of the presumed father, being the father? Is that enough certainty to have to pay child support? Should other family members be tested?
I signed as father without DNA I know dumb on my part. It was 14 years ago and after signing I was told immediately that the child was not my child by the mother, but of coarse from that point on I was responsible for the support for which I paid and continue to pay today. I was served with papers this month from the AG that this woman wants an increase in support. Can someone please let me know if there is a way I can get the court to allow me to have a DNA test. I really would like to be this whole situation to rest and know without a doubt if I am the father of this child. PLEASE HELP
my husband cheated on me with a co-worker, now she is pregnant and I asked him for a DNA test because she was married. What can he do if she doesn't let him take a paternity test? can he do something by law? thanks for your help!
A man had a girlfriend. They weren't monagamous. They broke up, and didn't speak for 5 years. She had a child after their breakup, and the math makes it look like he is the father. But she didn't inform him that she was even pregnant. He did not know until 5 years after their breakup that she was pregnant and had a child.
So, she waited until the child was 5 years old, and then decided to get the authorities to pay child support. He claims that the child is not his, and requested a dna test. The court denied his request.
It is now 4 years later. The child is 9.
The man in question is a roofer, and is able to find work only periodically. He has had much trouble keeping up with child support, and has been before the court and punished a couple of times for it. Both times, he again requested a dna test, claiming that the child is not his. His request has been consistently denied.
He was recently arrested again for failure to pay. His court appointed attorney says that his chances of getting a dna test are almost nil. The attorney says that in Texas, at 0-3 years, they will usually grant the request for a dna test. At 3-5 years, chances are 50/50 that they will grant a request for a dna test. But at 5 years plus, the attorney says his chances of getting a dna test are close to zero.
Is there anything he can do here to get a dna test, that doesn't require money? This is a desperate situation. He has now got a wife and stepson. His wife was recently shown to have a serious medical condition, and needs him at home.
Oops. I meant to say, "she decided to get the authorities to make him pay child support".
i took a dna test and its hard to understand them. I thought that if the alleged father tested that all of the numbers would be 0. But on mine there was about 6 of them that matched the alleged father. And on the results it doesnt say what % that he is not the father. Should i redo the test somewhere else?
live in Texas...
My husband may have fathered another child (prior to us getting together) but the women cheated and decided to be with the other guy she found out she was preg and gave the baby the other mans last name, he is on the birth cert etc..Once he decided he didnt want to be with her she told my husband that it was his baby and started "harrasing" him about it. She filed for child support against my husband and then didnt show up to the first meeting. We got a letter in the mail saying the case was closed because she never responded but she could re open at anytime. Sure enough 2 weeks later he got another letter for another meeting becasue she re-opened the case. She showed up to this one, they were scheduled for a DNA test she was to go right after the meeting and my husband is going today, but this morning we got a letter saying that another meeting is set up because she did not take the kid the get the test!!! I know in Texas if the man does not show up it is his child by default. Its like him saying okay this is my child...but what happens if the woman doesnt go and does not take the kid? please help!!!
Has anyone been through anything like this? I have never had to deal with child support so I have no idea what any of the process is....
My son is 8 months old and up until now i was pretty sure who his dad was until my mom pointed out how much she thinks he looks like my ex its complicated because i was last with my ex the beginning of march 2008 and got with the other guy the middle of march and had a period the end of march and it was said that i conceived around april 14th just by going by the 1st day of my last period, my due date was january 10th i had my son a month early, My 1st question is has ANYBODY had a period during your pregnancy, even one, or just in the beginning of the pregnancy, not implantation, a full blown period??? Because now im a nervous wreck thinking did i conceive before the period and had the period anyway?!!? i was with the guy my whole pregnancy and after but hes just an awful person and i dont want him in my sons life, my 2nd question is can i have a DNA test shipped to my home and whats the cost and are they accurate? i dont want no mean comments please this is very serious to me and ide just like a little advice and answers thank you so much!! does anybody think theres a big chance he could belong to the other guy even though i had a period? and also my son was born at 35 weeks and was 100% healthy he didnt need lights or oxygen tubes so everyone assumed my son was full term and belonged to the other guy, its all very confusing and i am going to get a DNA done i just want other opinions and answers on the period while pregnant. thanks.
can a DNA be covered under health insurance?
A Dna test just said the guy that I thought was my sons father is not his father. He was never around so I did not push the test or try to locate him. My son is 2 and a half, and there is another guy who I didnt think was the father, but I guess has to be. What do I do??? Please help!!!
I have found the woman I believe to be my half sister. We are considering taking a DNA test to see--however, the father we share is not available. Is blood better than buccal for the test? Are we likely to get false indicators? How do I know the company is reputable?
