You need to file for parentage determination. You can call the clerk of court and ask if they have a form available to fill out and file.

Some states will serve the papers for you and some make you serve the papers. I would suggest you have the sheriff serve the papers.

After the DNA test you will need to ask for a Declaration of Parentage. You can use this to get on the birth certificate and social security.

You then need to ask for visitation and/or custody.

You can take her to court and the judge will force her to take the child in for a DNA test. It is painless. All they do is swab the inside of the baby's and the possible dad's mouth.

There is not a lot of information here to go on, however really it is a DNA test which will cost about £500 and will involve a blood sample from baby and prospective father. However, the mother will have to consent to this, unless you go to court to try and force the issue. A good family lawyer should be able to give you the exact low down on how to go about this. Of course there is always Jeremy Kyle!!!

I don't know if this helps, but Rite Aid has an over the counter paternity test kit.
